Agent Registration for TDI Market Connection Now Available
TDI is currently implementing a Market Connection feature on Helpinsure.com
to connect consumers seeking coverage with agents. Registration is required if
your agency wants to participate. TDI launched the Helpinsure.com web site in
2002 to help Texans shop for homeowners insurance and is expanding now to include
personal auto and commercial insurance. Consumers will be able to complete and
submit an online questionnaire regarding the risk details and type of coverage
they are seeking. Agents will be able to submit contact information and identify
the insurance coverage categories they want to offer. The information will be
used to provide a list for consumers to search for agents by insurance coverage
category. To begin the registration process, go to www.tdi.state.tx.us/licensing/agent/index.html.
For more information or assistance with registration, contact PCMarketConnection@tdi.state.tx.us
or Mark Worman at 512.305.7544.

Texas Agents No. 1 in 2009
The 2009 national InsurPac campaign wrapped up the year with several milestones
for independent insurance agents. Texas successfully raised more than any other
state – thousands of dollars MORE – with a grand total of $67,405.
IIABA launched the campaign last year with expectations to reach the million
dollar mark in InsurPac in just one calendar year. Independent insurance agents
across the nation helped IIABA eclipse that goal, with $1,006,970.50 raised.
IIAT will be recognized at the Annual Big “I” Legislative Conference
and Convention in Washington this March for its outstanding fundraising efforts.

Supreme Court Decisions Affect Agent E&O
The Texas Supreme Court made decisions in two cases recently which may
impact agent E&O cases in the future – one in a good way and one not
so good. IIAT was actively involved in one case, on behalf of all Texas agents.
Both cases vividly demonstrate several truths about the civil justice system
in Texas in general and E&O claims in particular. >> Read
