Develop a business plan and form an Agency

The Small Business Administration has a business-plan outline plus a list of links for additional Web sites that provide information for starting your own business.

Office Depot features its “Small Business Handbook” which includes information such as starting your own business, planning and financing your business, marketing, purchasing equipment, tax information, hiring, managing finances and more.

The Texas Secretary of State offers information on Business Start-Up with a list of links to the Internal Revenue Service (for acquiring an Employer identification number); information on patents, trademarks and copyrights; state taxation such as sales tax, franchise tax and other taxes and additional links in helping you start your own agency.

The Texas Economic Development Department offers “Steps to Starting a Business,” which includes information on business structure, name and tax responsibilities along with federal and state employer requirements.
