Since graduating from Texas A&M University, his entire career has been in the insurance industry working in a variety of capacities including claims, underwriting, company management, and as an independent agency partner. |
Jim
Gavin
Continuing Education Manager
Jim is a graduate of St. Edward's University where he majored in both business
and education. He began his career on the company side earning experience in both
personal and commercial lines underwriting. As a branch manager, he was responsible
for all aspects of company operations in a three state area. Jim was an independent
insurance agent in Wichita Falls for more than 20 years. During that period he
was active in the local agents association, serving twice as president. |
Susan
C. Graves, CIC, CPCU, CLU, CPIW
Instructor
A graduate of Stetson University in DeLand, Florida with a master's degree
from Southern Methodist University, Susan has been an insurance educator
for more than 18 years. She has been a faculty member at the University
of North Texas where she taught Principles of Risk Management and Insurance
and currently is a national faculty member of the Society of Certified Insurance
Counselors. She has been an IIAT instructor since 1985. |
Cindie
Deasey, CPCU Instructor
Cindie has more than 30 years experience in the insurance industry, working on
the company side in various capacities as well as working as a CSR for an independent
agency. She started her teaching career with on the job training for her employers
and later as an instructor for the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas where
she developed and taught the ISO Commercial Property Rating class. Cindie joined
IIAT as an instructor in 2003. |
Neal
Lang
Instructor
Neal is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a bachelor's degree
in Business Administration. He has been involved in the financial services
business since 1984. As a resident of Rowlett, Texas since 1986, his business
experience has moved from planning for retirement to planning after retirement.
In 1998 he began instructing continuing education courses in Dallas and
now teaches Life and Health Essentials all over the state. His teaching
style is geared to the agent. Since he is still active in the field, he
can give a fresh perspective on new selling concepts and techniques, especially
in the senior market. "I do my best to teach and to entertain. After
all, you don't learn much if you are asleep!" |
Patrick
Deem, CIC
Instructor
A graduate of the University of Louisville, Patrick has more than 31
years experience in the insurance industry. He has served on the faculty
of the National Alliance and has published extensively. He also has years
of practical experience, having served as a sales and marketing manager,
an underwriting manager, a risk manager and an independent agent. A professional
trainer since 1986, Patrick has been an IIAT instructor since 1997. |
David VanDelinder, CPCU, AAI
Executive Director
Since joining IIAT in 1982, David has established a standard of excellence in education that is emulated across the country. Under his leadership, IIAT has twice been recognized by IIABA as having the best educational program in the U.S. David is a graduate of Wake Forest University and has 24 years of experience in insurance education. He continues to set the pace, by developing new programs for producers and customer service representatives that meet the most pressing needs of the independent agency. |
