IIAT Texas Market Share Reports

The Texas premium volume and loss data for 2017 tells a story of slower premium growth, and climbing loss ratios. The total written premium volume for all lines of insurance in Texas was $53.4 billion in 2017, compared to $50.0 billion in 2016, an increase of 6.8 percent. With the exception of workers compensation, which decreased slightly, and all other lines of insurance featured in this report showed a percentage gain from 2016 to 2017. The increases ranged from 4.3 percent for homeowners to 10.4 percent for personal auto. Total personal lines premium volume increased 8.6 percent.
