  • ELITExas and IIAT Raise More than $35,000 for Feeding Texas

    Jun 23, 2020

IIAT and its young professionals group, ELITExas, are proud to announce that they raised $35,280 for Feeding Texas. Each year, ELITExas hosts a community service project during IIAT’s annual conference, INSURCON. Due to Covid-19, IIAT transformed INSURCON 2020 into a virtual event. For their virtual community service project, ELITExas organized an online fundraising drive benefiting Feeding Texas.

The Feeding Texas network is the largest hunger-relief organization in Texas. Together with 21 member food banks, they reach over 4 million Texans annually with food and resources and engage the state in the fight against hunger.

“Thanks to contributions from IIAT members, and with a $17,640 match from IIAT, we are pleased to donate $35,280 to help feed Texans in need during the pandemic. Feeding Texas is a great organization, and their work is especially important during a crisis like the one we’re in now,” said former ELITExas Chair Billy Crocker. The amount raised will fund more than 140,000 meals for hungry Texans.

“Every dollar helps us get food to the tables of families that need us across the state,” said Feeding Texas CEO Celia Cole.

“During the pandemic, we’ve seen a doubling of need for people seeking help from us, and about half of those folks are coming to food assistance for the first time. We’re delivering about 21 million pounds of food weekly now and serving about 400,000 families every week. We expect that to continue, so we’re so grateful for the support we see from people in the community and places like IIAT,” said Cole.
