To earn the TIIA designation, agents must complete all the commercial or personal lines TIIA classes within five years of taking their first TIIA class. Agents must also pass an exam for each class.
Exams to earn the TIIA designation can be taken online after each class at no additional charge through the TIIA Exam Center. Passing the exam is one of the requirements for earning the TIIA designation in both personal and commercial lines. In order to maintain the designation, TIIA designees must complete 12 hours of IIAT CE-approved training every two years.
Agents who complete the TIIA designation in personal or commercial lines earn the right to use the TIIA designation as a professional credential. The TIIA designation denotes an advanced level of knowledge and expertise. TIIA designees will have a keener understanding of regulations and insurance issues enabling them to provide the most accurate technical assistance and superior customer service.
The TIIA program is ideal for agency staff who assist customers with their insurance questions or advise customers about insurance options. No previous experience is required, though introductory training in the agency or with IIAT’s New Employee Orientation program is advised. Experienced employees who train others in the office will benefit from exposure to the materials and instructional methods.
“Holding the TIIA designation shows that you are serious about your career and that you are taking positive steps to continue learning in a formal program.“Doug Johnson, Douglas B. Johnson Insurance Agency
