Automobile or RV? Getting It Right on the RLI PUP Application

The following guidance is being provided to help clarify Automobiles and Recreational Vehicles under the RLI application and policy:

Any motorized vehicle that requires motor vehicle registration, operator licensing, or is intended for use on public highways or roads is not considered a Recreational Vehicle under the RLI Personal Umbrella policy. These vehicles are classified as automobiles and must be included under Question 1 of the application. Additionally, they must carry the minimum underlying automobile liability limits as outlined in a qualifying basic policy.

Please refer to the RLI Personal Umbrella new business application – Question 25 (or Question 26 in Florida) – for the specific minimum automobile liability limits required in your state.

Note: Coverage is reviewed and evaluated based on the facts and circumstances of a specific claim as applied to the terms and conditions of the applicable policy.
