At this year’s INSURCON, IIAT proudly presented the 2025 Drex Foreman Award, our highest honor, to Bill Kliewer, a leader whose impact spans far beyond his agency and deep into the future of the independent insurance profession.
Bill’s journey began in service to our country as a helicopter pilot and Lieutenant in the U.S. Army’s 1st Cavalry Division. That experience shaped the calm, confident leadership style he’s known for today.
After joining his father-in-law’s agency in Killeen, Bill quickly became managing partner and soon founded BKCW Insurance. Under his leadership, the firm grew into one of the largest privately owned agencies in Texas, built through strategic growth and a steadfast focus on people.
His service to IIAT is just as impressive. Since 2012, Bill has contributed to nearly every major board and committee, including the IMPACT Board, Budget & Finance Committee, and strategic task forces. He has served as Vice Chair, Chair-Elect, Chair, and Immediate Past Chair, guiding IIAT through seasons of growth and change.
He’s known for his bold vision, collaborative spirit, and willingness to take risks, like supporting the hire of Executive Director Marit Peters, famously joking, “It’ll be a big mistake or we’ll look brilliant.”
These days, Bill finds his greatest joy with his grandchildren, Alex and Will.
A true servant leader, Bill Kliewer represents everything the Drex Foreman Award was created to celebrate. Congratulations, Bill!
