Make an IMPACT
Help IIAT’s Government Affairs team build and maintain strong relationships with business-friendly politicians.
DONATE NOWThe Texas insurance industry is strong and IIAT has a deep bench of involved independent agents who donate to IMPACT and participate in legislative events. Your engagement helps IIAT’s Government Affairs Team by showing elected representatives that we care and have members in all four corners of the state.
While IMPACT, our political action committee (PAC), is among the top 10 in the state, IIAT builds IMPACT slowly over three to four months every year (from February to June) and spend contributions slowly throughout the entire campaign season.
Other PACs are much more aggressive in how they raise money, and more importantly, how they spend it.
It’s no secret that plaintiff and personal injury attorneys have been a thorn in the side of insurance companies for years. Their involvement in the process sometimes makes insurance more expensive and harder to obtain for our customers.
In addition to filing lawsuits which adversely affect carriers, these same trial lawyers donate to their political action committee. The PAC for the Texas Trial Lawyer Association raised roughly $2,000,000 in 2022 compared to our $230,000.
They also outspend us exponentially. In October 2022, the month leading up to election day and arguably the busiest month for any PAC, the trial lawyer PAC donated roughly $441,000 to various candidates. In contrast, IMPACT donated $6.250 to candidates.
While we will likely never be able to match what they raise and spend, we can certainly close the gap.
When you give money to IMPACT, 100% of funds are used to fund pro-business candidates that share our views on small business and will help us keep the independent insurance agent model working in Texas.
Donating also helps IIAT’s Government Affairs Team. When IIAT makes campaign contributions through IMPACT dollars, the team build relationships with House Members and Senators. These relationships are critical because it helps the Governmental Affairs Team make contact with elected members to discuss legislation.
As always, please contact Regan Ellmer, at 512.493.2454, if you’d like to learn more. He’s always excited to talk to anyone about IMPACT & the Texas Legislature!
NOTE: The Texas Ethics Commission has strict prohibitions on contributions and expenditures and forbids a corporation or labor organization from making a political contribution or political expenditure. Therefore, IIAT members wishing to make a contribution to IMPACT must do so with a personal or partnership contribution. Corporate contributions are prohibited by law.
