NFIP Issues Grace Period Extension for States Impacted by Hurricane IDA

On September 21, 2021 FEMA announced an extension of the grace period for renewal payments for individuals located in states impacted by Hurricane Ida. This extension expands the usual 30 day grace period to 90 days, and applies to policies with expiration dates beginning July 27, 2021 through September 26, 2021. Additionally, FEMA has expanded this exception to apply to policies already renewed that incurred a lapse in coverage or a reduction in coverage due to late payment.
