When Insurance Is on the Agenda, Independent Agents Need to Be in the Room.

Governor Abbott has made insurance affordability a major focus for the upcoming legislative session. He looked independent agents in the eye and told us we will be on the frontline.

That means proposals are coming that could directly affect your agency, your customers and your bottom line.

Independent agents cannot afford to be absent from this conversation. Policy decisions made at the Capitol can shape how you serve customers, how your agency operates and how the independent agency system competes across Texas. That is why IIAT advocacy matters now.

Your voice is critical.

Independent agents understand this business in a way few others do. You know insurance is not one-size-fits-all. You know customers need choices, guidance and relationships with professionals in their communities. And you know what happens when insurance policy is shaped without practical input from the people who work with Texas families and businesses every day.

That message has to be heard at the Capitol.

Through IMPACT, IIAT works to strengthen relationships with lawmakers, advocate for independent agencies and make sure agents have a seat at the table when important decisions are being made. This is not politics for politics’ sake. It is about protecting your agency, your customers and the future of the independent agency system in Texas.

IIAT has expanded its advocacy efforts by bringing on Marquez Public Affairs to help lead the charge. Now, members will have the opportunity to hear directly from the team during a dedicated Advocacy track at INSURCON.

Prepare for the legislative fight at INSURCON.

On Tuesday, June 16, at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country, Marquez Public Affairs will lead three sessions designed to help independent agents understand what is ahead, how the legislative process works and why agent engagement matters.

The stakes are high. We need you engaged.

Every legislative session brings risk. This one is already signaling more than most. If lawmakers make decisions about insurance affordability without hearing clearly from independent agents, the result could be policies shaped without the practical insight your industry brings every day.

That is a risk none of us should ignore.

You have worked hard to build your agency, your reputation and your customer relationships. Now is the time to help protect them. Attend the Advocacy track at INSURCON. Invest in IMPACT. Stay informed. Speak up.

The fight is coming. Independent agents need to be ready.

Don't wait until the session is underway. Don't wait until harmful proposals gain momentum. Don't wait until decisions are already being made without us.
