Racing for Inclusion: How an IIAT Member and His Friend Are Making a Difference One Marathon at a Time

Andrew McAllister and Ross Ormond

On Monday, at the Joe Vincent Management Seminar, attendees learned about the inspirational journey of IIAT member Ross Ormond, Managing Director at Offenhauser in San Antonio, and his friend and running teammate Andrew McAllister.

The two have completed some of the biggest marathons in the world as a team. However, Andrew and Ross aren’t like most marathoners – Ross runs the full 26 miles while pushing Andrew in his wheelchair.

Andrew was born with cerebral palsy and is the founder of the Believe It Foundation, a San Antonio non-profit with a mission to include children with physical disabilities into the lives and experiences of their typical peers. Ross and Andrew have run four of the world's six largest marathons -- New York, Chicago, London and Berlin. They hope to also complete the Boston and Tokyo marathons.

On Monday at the Joe Vincent Management Seminar, IIAT Past President Mark Bridges presented Ross and Andrew with a $2,500 donation to the Believe It Foundation on behalf of IIAT and its members.
