New board officers were inducted during IIAT’s annual awards ceremony & business meeting during INSURCON at the JW Marriot Hill Country San Antonio on June 21, 2024. Tommy Dies, partner at Bryan Insurance Agency in Graham, was elected IIAT Chair for 2024-2025. Travis McDavid, VP at GSM Insurors in Rockport, will serve as chair-elect; and Tyler Spears, Managing Partner at BKCW in Austin, will serve as vice-chair.
Elected to serve on the board of directors were Ross Ormond with Offenhauser & Co in San Antonioin, and Mona Villanueva with US Insurance Services in Edinburg.

Bryan Insurance, Graham
Tommy has been in the insurance industry for more than 20 years and a partner with Bryan Insurance Agency since 2015. He graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with a bachelor’s degree in finance, earned his Master of Business Administration from Midwestern State University, and he holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation. Tommy resides in Graham, TX, with his wife, Karen, and together they have two adult children and five grandchildren.
Tommy is a member of Applied Client Network and chairs IIAT’s Budget & Finance Committee. He is also an active member of Rotary Club of Graham, Graham Concert Association, The Old Post Office Museum & Art Center, and a committee member for The Food Truck Championship of Texas. Outside of work, Tommy enjoys playing golf, camping, and spending time with his family, never passing up an opportunity to spoil the grandkids.
Travis McDavid

Travis McDavid is the Vice President of GSM Insurors in Rockport. He joined his family’s agency after graduating from the University of Texas in 2000. Travis served on IIAT’s Board of Directors from 2014 to 2018 and was the VP of IIAT’s Services Board from 2018 to 2023. He has chaired IIAT’s Windstorm Task Force since 2013 and has been a member of TWIA’s Advisory Board since 2016. Travis also serves on the Aransas County Airport Advisory Board and the Aransas County Appraisal District Board of Directors. Travis is a licensed pilot who enjoys sharing his passion for flying as a flight instructor. He lives in Rockport with his wife Peggy and his four kids, Haleigh, Bridy, Brooks (Cinco), and Beckett.
Tyler Spears

Tyler Spears graduated with a BBA in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business and joined BKCW Insurance in 2009, serving as the Managing Partner. In his fifteen years, the agency has grown and expanded its footprint throughout central Texas with locations in Austin, Killeen, Temple, and Brownwood.
Tyler lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife, Meredith, and two kids. He serves on various regional and national agent councils for Nationwide, Texas Mutual, and Liberty Mutual/Safeco. He was named the 2017 IIAT Young Agent of the Year and sits on the boards of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas and the Independent Insurance Agents of Austin. Outside of work, Tyler enjoys playing golf and going outdoors, especially to the mountains in the winter and summer.
